Francois Thibault was a celebrated matre di chai or "cellar master." His area of expertise was the creation of premium cognac. One day, he decided to direct his talents and experience towards an all-new, thoroughly special vodka. This unprecedented move led to the creation of Grey Goose Vodka. Unlike most vodkas -- which are designed to be as "pure" and flavorless as possible -- the unique Grey Goose distillation process allows the character of the wheat to shine through in the finished product. Only premium soft winter wheat from the Picardy region of France is used. In fact, it is the exact same wheat used by local bakeries to create fine breads and pastries. The water for Grey Goose is sourced from a dedicated limestone well in the Cognac region. The vodka is distilled only once using a continuous column distiller. In contrast, most lesser vodkas as distilled numerous times -- and yet still can't match Grey Goose's characteristic smoothness.
