Former geologist Tito Beveridge first considered going into the vodka making business when he started flavoring vodkas by hand and giving them to his friends as Christmas presents.They liked them so much that they encouraged him to go into the business of selling his delicious, handmade spirit creation. The end result; Tito's Handmade Vodka, produced in Austin, Texas' first (and consequently oldest) legal distillery. Tito makes his vodka in small batches, utilizing an old fashioned pot still instead of a more modern one. He micro-distills his vodka six times, in the same manner as an exquisite, single-malt scotch, or an expensive French cognac would be distilled. This method of distillation has a time-honored tradition for creating the highest quality spirits. It requires more effort, knowledge, and skill to make vodka this way, rather than with a more contemporary column-type still, but Tito firmly believes that it is well worth it.
