Delmore has been around, through various owners, and using nearby Averon River for their scotch since 1839. The very rare Delmore 28 was aged in Oloroso Sherry casks for as many years and bottled for the now discontinued Stillman's Dram series. A taste of this single malt scotch whiskey begins with a colorful aroma of caramel, spices and brittle. The very accented flavor palette includes dried fruits, caramel, pepper and a hint of mint. Its years in the cask guarantee a high-end fusion of flavors that stays earthy but enigmatic. The woody finish retains its base of dried fruits but stays dry and spicy through the addition of tannins. The Delmore 28 is an increasingly hard find and comes at a premium that is well worth the artisanal experience.
