Kirkland Signature Spiced Rum is sold exclusively at Costco stores. While this may not give it a prestigious, "luxury" feel, one should not overlook this high-value spirit. Kirkland Signature Spiced Rum hails from the sunny Caribbean island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Coming in at a stout 92 proof, it is somewhat stronger than many competing spiced rums. It is crafted from virgin sugar cane grown in St. Croix's fertile tropical soil. When ready, the canes are pressed to extract their sugary juice. Known locally as "melazas," this juice is distilled five times to create a smooth, easy to drink rum. Finally, a selection of spices -- including vanilla, cinnamon and clove -- are added. They blend with the natural flavors of the spirit to give Kirkland Signature Spiced Rum its unique character. It tastes great on the rocks, in a classic rum and coke or combined with fruit juice in a festive tropical cocktail.
