Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced Rum is unique in the spiced rum world in that it used aged rum as its base. Using sugar cane grown on St. Kitts in the Caribbean, Brinley Gold is aged for at least 4 years in oak casks, resulting in a deep finish with hints of smoke and dark wood and prominent orange and vanilla flavors. Available for around $26 per 750-mL bottle, Brinley Gold Spiced Rum features a relatively mild alcohol content of 72 proof, making it an excellent afternoon drink when mixed with cola. New Jersey-based Brinley Gold Shipwreck was founded in 2002 by Zach Brinley, a former Wall Street Banker. Brinley first fell in love with the island of St. Kitts nearly 25 years earlier, when his father Bob set up an electronics plant on the island. Today Brinley Gold Shipwreck continues to enjoy a strong relationship with the island of St. Kitts, creating sustainable employment for its sugar cane growers and processors.
