Vanilla beans from Tahiti and sugar cane from Hawaii serve as the calling cards of Charbay Alambic Clear Rum, but it's the distillation process that helps give it a name worth remembering. That's because a copper Alambic pot still is how this product is uniquely crafted for its eager audience of adherents. An independently owned family business usually guarantees a new take on an old idea, since they aren't beholden to corporate masters, merely their own standards. That's why the standards that have been established are so high and that merely putting any supply of vanilla beans into the mix wasn't sufficient. In the latter case, the rarity of such beans helps raise the bar for other silver rums to follow. The colors and flavors within are natural, with no attempt to enhance them through gimmicky ideas. The quality control in place means that the distillers sample from each batch.
