For Jamaica, Appleton is synonymous with premium rum. Operations began in 1655. The whole distillation process started under British rule after England claimed the island from Spanish invaders. Ownership was transferred to African families in the mid-1800s, and it has wholesomely remained under Jamaican jurisdiction ever since. After a dozen generations, Appleton still makes the best white rum blend in all of the land. Overall, this excellent offering is astutely equipped with a medium body that is purposefully designed for meshing with fruit juices, colas and tonics. The tangy Caribbean vibe is shockingly bold for the taste buds. Get ready for some refreshing pineapple, banana and coconut! The clarity is caused by charcoal activated filtration. A startling crispness reaches the palate, and it is marvelously mild every time. The refreshingly light texture may deceive drinkers into thinking this is a blend for lightweights, but it gradually packs a sly punch.
