Barceló is produced in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. The brand is 85 years old. It's the finest rum produced in the Dominican Republic. Barceló rums are now sold in 20 different countries. Barceló Anejo Gold is a minimum of four years old, but it fools you into believing its much older. Its taste is slightly sweet and medium bodied with a hint of burning. When mixed, Barceló Gold doesn't overpower the drink itself, but you know it's in there from the taste of the rum's flavor. It's carefully made of Dominican sugar and molasses and aged in recycled oak bourbon barrels that give it a solid oak core with a long sweetish finish. Barceló Gold is an excellent rum, particularly for its price. Its color is actually lighter than you'd think it would be, but that's due to its dark bottle that keeps the sun out.
