Hearkening back to the Colonial roots of when rum production flourished, Boston Rum is created by Bully Boy Distillers with blackstrap molasses that comes straight from a New Orleans refinery and aged in former bourbon barrels as well as red wine casks. Distilled organically in a 600 liter copper pot still, which has a deeper cut to it, allowing for a bolder taste. The result is an amber-colored aromatic combination, with touches of nougat, grape and cherry combined with vanilla. Once it touches the palate, a dry fruit cascade begins, courtesy of the red wine barrel aging. By the finish, spices and a wood-based tone begin to surface, making for an eminently pleasing final phase. This creation serves as a the middle ground for those who know their rum, since at 80 proof, it's not too sweet nor bitterly sharp. It works well when relaxing or as a mixer.
