Traditional dry, heavy gins are what people usually think of when they think of gin. Old Tom Gin Brand's Downslope Distilling Ould Tom Gin, however, does not rest on strong juniper and citrus botanicals like classic gins. Though this gin contains notes of both juniper and citrus, Downslope Distilling Ould Tom Gin is far from ordinary. Downslope Distilling Ould Tom Gin is distilled from cane rather than grain, making it sweeter than it is dryer. While classic gins can be considered neutral and good for any drinks, Ould Tom Gin is anything but. This fun, cane gin would make a great martini. It is first pot distilled, infused with 11 different botanicals and overall full bodied. This gin smells of bright citrus mingling with caramel and warm spices. The juniper and cardamom finish sits nicely on the tongue. Wine Enthusiast magazine named Ould Tom Gin one of the top spirits of 2013.
