For those with a yen for what it was like to mix cocktails before Prohibition, Ransom Old Tom Gin is for you. The recipe is a modern version of a 19th Century offering and comes from an esteemed mixologist with a keen historical sense. In it, the malted barley is subtle, which allows the botanicals that are infused in high proof corn spirits to truly have an impact. Those botanicals include, lemon and orange peel, coriander, angelica root, cardamom pods with juniper berries. After three to six months in a 100 percent French Oak wine barrel, the aging process delivers the vey best of the aroma, flavor and body. To take the best of that aging and enhance it even further, only the finest part of what's distilled makes it into a bottle.
