Xoriguer is a brand of Old Tom Gin that is made on the Spanish island of Minorca in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s seemingly hard to read name is pronounced as show-ri-gare. Gin has been made on Minorca since the 1700’s. However, Old Tom Gin is a British invention, not a Spanish one. Old Tom Gin was first distilled on the island during a period of British control before it changed hands over to the Spaniards. This Old Tom Gin is named after a windmill that was owned by the family of Senor Miguel Pons Justo, the founder of the company. Xoriguer, the wind mill, can be found on the label of every bottle of this gin. As far as taste is concerned, hints of juniper, pepper, lemon, camomile, orange and almond can be picked up. It is also a quite spicy tasting gin. It is completely clear and smells of orange zest.
