Ransom Spirits, named for the incredible debt that founder Ted Seestedt put himself into in order to fund his dream, was founded in 1997 and initially produced only small batches of brandy, grappa, and eau-de-vie. Grain based spirits were added to their lineup in 2007, including gin, whiskey, and vodka. With a forty acre organic farm situated on the outskirts of Sheridan, Oregon, this distillery/winery is home to gorgeous views and abundant wildlife. Distilled in the traditional method without computers or industrial machines, their spirits take on an intensity of body that can't be matched. The raw materials used in the distillation process are chosen with care, and only from the purest organic sources. Of their many fine spirits, the classic taste of their Old Tom Gin is both nostalgic and accurate. Distilled in the old, artisanal ways that have been all but lost, this malty, aromatic gin is a perfect example from the Golden Age of spirits.
