Using a combination of rye, wheat and barley malts, Genevieve Genever Style Gin is a new twist on an old method, but the taste is still a sensation. Distilled in the standard copper pot, the usual dozen botanicals and juniper berries are present to make what's considered to be an herbally enhanced whiskey. This gin differs from the usual American and British versions due to an aroma that immediately grabs those ready to partake in it with a robust sweetness. That's the beauty of the grains working in concert, but a remarkable sight takes place when it's chilled: a hazy appearance envelops the glass, adding a touch of mystery to this old school offering. This drink embodies what a gin cocktail is supposed to be, but it packs a punch, which is one reason the Beverage Testing Institute suggests a dash of water to soften the impact.
