Another gin that attempts to bridge old and new, Few American Gin, has a malted grain base that has Cascade hops in it to add more vigor to the final product. The Few name comes from the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard, the head of the long-gone temperance movement that reportedly began in Evanston, Illinois, the home of Few Spirits. The botanicals making up this product have the standards like juniper, citrus and cassia, along with twists like Tahitian vanilla and grains-of-paradise. That leads to an aroma where the juniper competes with lemon, with the both of them staying around on the palate, where they're joined by the vanilla. Given the warmth that envelops the palate, the vanilla and lemon combine to hint at lemon meringue. That slight burn likely comes from the hops, but when it comes to the finish, it's mellow and long, making for a satisfying conclusion.
