As part of a tradition that dates back to the 17th Century, Bols Barrel Aged Genever Gin is a product that's only offered in limited quantities, which allows the makers to sharpen their excellence with each succeeding distillation. To make sure that the pale golden color is achieved in each bottle, the aging process takes at least 18 months--usually longer. The reward for such patience is a product that offers a great deal of body, with the oak from which it was distilled also coming though with each sip. That wait has also allowed the inherent sweetness to burst forth. From the first hints of aroma that evoke a spiced bread, the vanilla and citrus that also are recognized lead to the palate. Here, many of those same sensations are evident until the spicy finish that grabs hold of both the tongue and lips--a solid job of blending put forth.
