Bols Barrel Aged Genever Gin is made by the Lucas Bols Company, which has been operating since 1575. It is one of the oldest Dutch companies in existence. The spirits they make are a product of traditional recipes tweaked and honed over their long life. They have spent decades perfecting their distillation, aging, and blending techniques. To create the popular Barrel Aged Gener Gin, Lucas Bols uses high-quality grains, like wheat, rye, and corn, with a specific blend of botanicals that is kept secret. One of the things they use are citrus peels to give the Genever Gin its fruity tones. They also use a process that is similar to brewing coffee called percolation. Herbs and other ingredients are used in the brewing stage to infuse more flavors into the gin. After a triple distillation, the Barrel Aged Genever Gin is infused with flavors and a heady note of juniper and barreled in French Limousine oak casks to age.
