Citadelle Reserve Gin began as an experiment in 2008 when standard Citadelle gin was placed in some old French Oak casks to age. The final product was distilled months later and proved to be a dynamic addition to the brand. Notes of vanilla and wood made it well rounded, but the ever-present juniper flavor remained. The discovery resulted in tweaks each year that refined what became an award-winning product. From cinnamon one year to a more floral-based and spicier version the next, the evolution continued to bring about new taste sensations that now include an amazing 22 different botanicals that are now aged for six month in the oak barrels with light char. Through experience, the flavor is now more consistent, which bodes well for the future.
