Anchor Distilling Company, a division of the craft brewing pioneers Anchor Brewing Company, was established in 1993. Their goal was to create spirits in the old traditional styles. The began with rye whiskey, which quickly led them to seek a gin that was worthy of the artisanal techniques. At last, they launched Junipero, a classic style gin that was both smooth and flavorful. Soon after, they found an old style recipe from antiquity that was essentially unaged whiskey infused with botanicals, mainly Juniper. They created Genevieve Gin in the style of the traditional genever recipe. What makes Genevieve so special is that it is crafted from an ancient style of gin making, using primitive pot stills and a grain mash. Using the same botanicals as their flagship modern style gin, they infuse their interpretation of copper pot still Genever style gin to bring about a nostalgic libation from a simpler time.
