Another gin that seeks to go back to the future by producing gin the old fashioned way, Wigle Ginever gin handles the basics with the proper attention to detail. However, they break away from the mold by using a fascinating combination of botanicals that include cubeb, cardamom and lavender. The warmth in the aroma is one that hints at the malts within the product, but also detects a certain sweetness that can be attributed to the cardamom, as well as other items. When it reaches the palate, the juniper takes hold and pepper becomes enveloped in the rye that can also be found. In the latter stages, floral hints pop up, courtesy of the lavender. However, the citrus then arrives to combine with the malt to form a warm finish that can be enjoyed in a wide variety of mixed drinks, especially in a martini while relaxing.
