Perhaps the only gin that is certified Kosher-for-Passover, No. 209 is a hand-crafted, unique, and interesting gin gets its personality from the eight to eleven carefully selected spices, herbs, roots, and berries, of the dozens that could potentially go into flavoring it. Its complicated spicy-citrus taste profile is achieved primarily with cassia bark, bergamot orange, cardamom pods, lemon peel, coriander root, and angelica seeds. The recipe was changed 87 times before it was perfected, and remains a company secret. The tasting flavors presented first are the high citrus notes of primarily lemon, with just a touch or orange. As it warms on the tongue, understated floral aromas are released from the coriander and bergamot, followed by peppery cardamom, and the quintessential juniper. The experience concludes on a warm, and spicy note, with a lingering cassia aftertaste that lingers satisfyingly on the palate, tempting the taster to further partake of it.
