Meukow XO Extra Old Cognac hails from the town of Matha in the Charente Maritime department, a coastal portion of France's famed cognac region. It is a premium spirit often reserved for special occasions. Tasters describe its nose as being rather floral and fruity. Take a sip, and you're met with rich candied fruit essence and a deeper floral quality. Spicy and smoky notes dominate the long, satisfying finish. While it could make for a very special cocktail, most drinkers choose to enjoy Meukow XO Extra Old Cognac on its own. Meukow was founded in 1862 by a pair of Russian brothers. They were originally sent by the tsar to arrange shipment of a cognac supply for the royal court. They eventually fell in love with the region and its signature spirit. They ended up staying in France and establishing their own cognac company. They adopted the Puma -- which decorates Meukow XO Extra Old Cognac's distinctive bottle -- as their mascot.
