Maison Comandon has been in business for almost 200 years. It remains a boutique independent family business with limited, but complete in-house production. The family retains control of the making of their spirits which gives their VSOP its own unique personality. Comandon Cognac is produced in strict compliance with the May 1, 1909 decree specifying the true Cognac production area, the grapes to be used in producing the spirit and its alcohol content. Comandon VSOP is aged at least 10 years. That's unusually old for a VSOP. It shows a dark amber color with tints of copper. Its taste is intense with oak, but offset with orange, pear and apricot along slight touches of caramel and vanilla. It maintains a very long after-taste. At the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Comandon won its third double-gold medal in a row. Comandon VSOP continues to win awards in global spirit competitions.
