Any good cognac has been waiting for decades to make it to the awaiting palates of those who know the very best in quality. Such is the case with Pierre Ferrand Reserve Cognac, which has been recognized with a Gold Medal from the Beverage Testing Institute. The aroma takes on a fruity tone, with berries and apples at the forefront, while some spice, vanilla and honey surround the remaining floral scent. Some of that citrus remains as it reaches the palate, with lemon the most obvious detection. However, the sweetness is most pronounced with the candied fruit that also welcomes the sense of apricot that abounds. When the finish rolls around, the sweetness of licorice is mixed with something of a tart cinnamon and a chewy walnut. Put them all together and it evokes a feeling of peppery grapes that have comfortably rested within an oak barrel until being unleashed.
