Pierre Ferrand sources the eaux-de-vie for their cognac exclusively from the Grande Champaigne region of France, with its unique terroir. While their entire range of offerings is filled with unique, distinctive offerings, Reserve is a star among stars. It gleams deeply golden, with amber highlights, in the glass. More richly bodied than the younger offerings, it possesses a nose of distinctive vanilla orchid, laced with the subtlety of rose petals. Upon the first sip, these garden scents gracefully relinquish the floor to sweet notes of apricot preserves and candied summer fruits. Then, it finishes with a long drawn wash of walnut, cinnamon, and star anise. Such an elegant cognac is perfect for late summer dinner parties, after the desert dishes have been cleared away and the stars come out overhead. Fruit, poultry, and the tang of vinaigrettes compliment this subtly rounded cognac, with its mellow nose and firmly established foundation of nuts and fruits.
